Care of your sleep set is an important step in enjoying restful, comfortable, and healthy sleep. Like any piece of furniture, it will "perform" better and last longer if it is properly maintained. Follow the instructions provided to you by the manufacturer on your warranty card and you may also take these additional steps to ensure that your mattress remains an oasis of comfort and luxury in your home.
- Proper Installation: Make sure your mattress and foundation are correctly installed. Improper installation can damage your sleep set. All of our locations offer delivery and set up is included.
- Use a Mattress Protector: A good quality, washable mattress protector will keep your mattress free of dirt and stains and will minimize allergens. This will also preserve your warranty as tears and stains will void the warranty. We offer breathable, washable mattress protectors at an affordable price.
- Give it Good Support: Use a solid, sturdy bed frame. For larger mattresses like queens or kings, make sure they have adequate center support to keep them from breaking or sagging in the middle.
- Don't Dry Clean: Chemicals in dry cleaning can damage the comfort layers, fabrics, and foams in your mattress. Vacuuming is the safest way to clean your mattress.
- Don't remove the tag: The law tags on your mattress and foundation are required for warranty claims.
- Matching Sets: Select a matching sleep set. Mattresses and foundations are made to work together and preserve the warranty provided by the manufacturer. Mismatching sets can impede comfort and reduce the life of the mattress.
- Know what to Expect:
- Quality. A poor quality mattress will have a shorter life span while a high quality set will provide more years of comfort and support.
- Frequency of Use. A sleep set that is use on a nightly basis in the master bedroom will wear at a faster rate than one used sparingly in a guest room.
- Weight. An adult who is lightweight will wear a mattress out more slowly than one who is heavier. Also, two people on a mattress weigh more than one, so a couple will wear a mattress out faster than a single person.
- Care. Proper care can extend the life of a mattress. Please refer to the care section on the warranty card provided with your mattress.
- Body Impressions. Mattress sets today are made differently than they used to be. A good quality mattress is made to conform to your body much like a good pair of shoes. This is normal and to be expected. Up to 1 ½ inches of compression can be measured in a mattress that has conformed correctly to your body. A pillow top mattress will show body impressions more than a plush or firm mattress will.
